High pressure, which brought plenty of sunshine and pleasant weather to the area on Wednesday, will slowly move off to the east. Behind the high on Thursday, winds will turn around to the southeast, ushering in warmer air. Highs on Thursday will reach into the mid 80s. Most of the area will be dry on Thursday, but there is a slight chance for some showers and thunderstorms, mainly across northwest and north central Illinois during the afternoon. Steamier and potentially stormier weather is on tap for the weekend, so keep tuned to the forecast.
